CONGRESSWOMAN FUDGE: "NO MORE POLITICAL GAMES. WE NEED TO FOCUS ON JOBS"

WASHINGTON, DC--Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) today made this statement in regard to the vote on the disapproval resolution, H.J.Res. 98:

"Instead of wasting valuable time on a disapproval resolution, House Republicans should be quickly moving forward on job creation bills, in addition to the one-year extension of the Payroll Tax Cut and Unemployment Insurance.

"House Republicans should bring to the House floor proposals that would improve economic growth, help small businesses grow, and put people back to work rebuilding our country.  I've introduced numerous jobs bills that could be brought up by the Republican leadership.  The Infrastructure Bank Actof 2011 would create nearly 30,000 jobs for every $1 billion spent on highway and bridge construction while aiding our economic recovery and making travel safer; and the National Youth Summer Jobs Act, which was recently endorsed by the president of the Conference of Mayors, would offer grants to local governments to provide young people with job readiness activities and job placement.  President Obama's plan, Summer Jobs+, builds on this effort by challenging government, private sector businesses and non-profit agencies to step up efforts to hire low-income and disconnected youth.

"No more political games.  We need to focus on job creation now."
