Education Programs at The USAHEC

The U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center offers a wide variety of creative and entertaining education programs for all ages free of charge.

Primary and Secondary:
The USAHEC has education programs and lesson plans for all levels within the primary and secondary school age groups. The lesson plans meet Pennsylvania state educational standards for K-12 programs. The lessons include tours and classes on the Army Heritage Trail, interaction with living historians, and various activities concentrating on teaching the history of our country's military heritage. All programs are flexible and the USAHEC staff coordinate with each teacher to ensure that the programs meet the learning objectives of each class.

Undergraduate and Graduate:
The USAHEC offers in-depth professional experience through internships to students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees. The USAHEC is a working archive, museum, and educational facility. Students have the opportunity to earn credit and experience via hands-on training in applied history, collections management (including working with artifacts, art work, photographs, and audio-visual media), archives, or reference services.

All internships are unpaid and are tailored to the needs of the student. Students interested in applying for an internship should submit the online Internship Application Form at least 60 days prior to the expected start of their internship.
