1SG Boyd is a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and entered the United States Army on June 6, 1996. He completed basic training and AIT at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and was awarded the MOS 42A, Human Resource Specialist. 1SG Boyd currently serves as the First Sergeant for Alpha Company, 2/39 IN BN.
He has served in the following leadership positions: Drill Sergeant, Section NCOIC, Platoon Sergeant, and First Sergeant. He has also served as a Personnel Service Specialist, Awards Clerk, NCOER Clerk, Retention NCO, Equal Opportunity Representative, Operations NCO, Additional Duty Safety Officer, Senior Human Resource Sergeant, Assistant Mobilization Division NCOIC, Secretary of the General Staff (SGS) NCOIC, Small Group Leader, Senior Small Group Leader, and the Chief of Training.
1SG Boyd’s military education and civilian education includes: PLDC, BNCOC (Honor Grad), ANCOC, DA First Sergeant Course, Drill Sergeant School, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Unit Prevention Leaders Course, HAZMAT Course, Action Officer’s Course, Defense Reutilization Course, Retention NCO Course, Staff and Faculty Development Course, Small Group Instructor Course, and the IET Company Commander and First Sergeant Course. He holds an Associate degree in Business Administration from Columbia Southern University, and pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Business Management.
1SG Boyd’s awards include: The Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal (3rd Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (3nd Award), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 3), Army Service Ribbon, and the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge. He is also a member of the Adjutant General Regimental Association, Carolina Chapter.
