Transitional Housing Assistance Grants for Victims of Domestic Violence
The Transitional Housing Assistance Grants support programs that serve individuals experiencing homelessness and their children who have had to flee their homes due to domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, or sexual assault and are in need of transitional housing and supportive services. Direct recipients of these services are those for whom emergency shelter is not available. Grants can fund the operation of transitional living facilities, short term rental assistance, and assistance in the search for permanent housing. Priority is given to transitional housing programs that provide comprehensive case management to achieve permanent housing for this population as well as support groups, counseling, and employment services.
Eligible Applicants:
State and local governments as well as nonprofit organizations that have a successful history of serving victims of domestic violence in transitional housing.
Eligible Beneficiaries:
Only homeless individuals and their children who are victims of domestic violence are eligible for services funded with these grants.
Funding Mechanism:
Grant funds are awarded competitively on an annual basis to applicants who directly implement the programs.
