Letter to the Families and Parents

To our Marines, Sailors, Family Members and Friends,

Welcome!

Congratulations on your assignment to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Division at Camp Horno, on MCB Camp Pendleton, California. You have joined a proud unit with a long and distinguished combat history dating back to the early 1920's. 2/1 has distinguished itself in every major war this country has fought since WWI and continues to play a frontline role in our national defense.

The Family Readiness Office provides Marines and their family official communication with the battalion, information and referral services, and family support while the battalion is at home or deployed. It is my job to help make life easier for you while you are part of the 2/1 family and to keep you up to date with the battalion operations and other items of interest, particularly as we get closer to deployment. To assist in this effort, the Marine Corps has introduced a new Battalion website called eMARINE at www.emarine.org. The site is restricted to Marines and Sailors currently serving in the Battalion and their designated family members. If you are a family member of a 2/1 Marine or Sailor and are not subscribed to eMARINE, ask him to invite you to join. This website will no longer be updated on a regular basis. Current Information for Battalion Marines, sailors and their family members is now found on the new eMARINE site.

You may also want to check out the battalion Face Book page. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or problems or if you require any information. In an emergency, you can also contact the Battalion Duty Office at 760-763-0793.

I trust you will enjoy a successful tour with 2/1. We fight hard, work hard and play hard, and each Marine here is proud of the past and present accomplishments of the Battalion.

It is a pleasure to welcome you as a member of this outstanding unit.

Welcome aboard,

Bill Robb
Family Readiness Officer
