HAWC Classes
Healthy Heart Class (high cholesterol) is now being held every first Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon at the Medical Group in the Shima San conference room on the third floor.

The Hypertension (high blood pressure) class is now being held every third Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon at the Medical Group in the Shima San conference room on the third floor.

Tobacco Cessation classes are held every Monday at 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the HAWC, Bldg. 428. No sign up is required. Call the HAWC at 634-2499 for more information, or check out the Facebook page at Kadena Health and Wellness Center.

TRICARE Young Adult
TRICARE Young Adult is now available to qualified, unmarried children of service members without access to employer-sponsored health care coverage. TYA will allow them to buy health care coverage under their parents' TRICARE plans through age 26. TRICARE Standard is now available to qualifying individuals at a monthly premium of $186. Standard cost shares and deductibles will apply. If you qualify for TYA, you may purchase coverage at any time.

Patriot Express Arrival Change
The Patriot Express is changing its arrival time. Starting June 3, the Patriot Express will be arriving at 7:15 p.m. on Fridays. It will still depart the same time, Saturdays at 9:10 a.m.

18th Dental Squadron Summer Access to Care
Family member access at the 18th Dental Squadron will be limited from June to September due to the normal PCS rotation of dentists and the resulting professional staffing gap. Active duty personnel have appointment priority during this time in accordance with AF directives. Family member access will be established according to the following guidelines: Routine general dentistry appointments may be scheduled if available within five duty days from the inquiry. Urgent/emergent needs will be evaluated and treated to stabilize the acute conditions. The exam/cleaning schedule will be opened the first duty day of the month for available appointments that same month.

This policy does not impact the Pediatric Dentistry clinic. We encourage use of your Tricare/United Concordia Dental benefits at www.tricaredentalprogram.com.

Consulate General Naha Consular Section Closure
The Consular section at the U.S. Consulate General, Naha will be closed to the public May 23 and 24. They will re-open to the public May 25.

The office will be open for U.S. citizens who require emergency assistance: victims of crime, emergency repatriation/financial assistance, replacement of lost or stolen passports with an emergency need to travel and reporting death, arrest or accident/illness involving American citizens.

18th Medical Group TRICARE Online Update
Have you tried booking your appointment online? This is a fast and convenient way to book your appointment 24 hours a day, seven days a week from the comfort of your home or office. When it is time to make your next medical appointment with the Family Practice, Pediatrics, Flight Medicine, and/or Internal Medicine Clinics, please visit https://www.tricareonline.com.

18th Medical Group closure
The 18th Medical Group will be closed May 27 and 30 in observance of the PACAF Family Day and Memorial Day. In case of emergency, please call 911 on-base, 119 off-base, 098-934-5911 from a cell phone, or go directly to the U.S. Naval Hospital Emergency Department.

For acute medical or dental needs after hours, please call the Okinawa Clinical Answering Service (OCAS) for medical, at 643-4245, or 098-970-5555 then dial 643-4245 (off base or using cell phone), and for dental, call the provider on call at 080-2721-0412 or 639-2324.

Airmen Dorm Leaders Needed
Kadena Unaccompanied Housing is still looking for three Staff Sgt. and one Tech. Sgt. to fill vacant Airmen Dorm Leader positions (Dorm Managers).

Applicants must possess ranks of Tech. Sgt. or Staff Sgt., have a minimum of one year experience as a supervisor, possess leadership and mentorship capability, and not have any record of emotional instability, disciplinary actions, or financial irresponsibility. Applicants must possess ability to speak distinctly and to all levels of rank, possess high standards of military appearance and conduct, have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, supply, accounting, facility maintenance procedures and management of personnel. You must have nine months remaining on your DEROS and not receiving payment from an SRB. This is a two-year controlled non-deployable tour.

International Postal Advisory
International Mail: Mail addressed to foreign countries should have the country name, written in full (no abbreviations) and printed in capital letters, as the final line of the address. The postal delivery zone, if any, should be included with the city. For Example:

Postal Advisory: Customs
Japanese Customs has seen an increase in the importation of prohibited items in military mail, and as a result has increased confiscations. It is important for you to know that mailing of alcohol is strictly prohibited, and if found in the mail it will be destroyed. Also prohibited are items imported that infringe upon patents, designs, trademarks, counterfeit, and copyright- these items will be confiscated. These items include fake brand names, i.e., Luis Vuitton, Gucci, Coach, Burberry, Nike, Reebok and other.

Japanese Customs examine all incoming mail daily in accordance with the SOFA. When prohibited items regardless of quantities are found, the addressee is notified by the Air Mail Terminal postal officials. The addressee will have to agree in writing to the items' destruction by Japanese Customs. Please be sure to abide by postal and customs regulations to avoid possible prosecution.

Kadena Post Office Closure
The post office and official mail center will be closed May 30 in observance of Memorial Day. Both locations will be open normal business hours for the designated PACAF Family Day, May 27.

Air Force OSI Seeks Special Agent Candidates
Join us during the monthly recruitment meetings held the last Thursday of every month at 10 a.m. in the OSI Detachment 624, Bldg. 705, on Kadena.

Education and Training Center Hours
This is a friendly reminder to all education and training customers that the office hours for the base Education and Training Center, Bldg 59, are as follows:
Monday-Friday: Walk-Ins from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Appointments from 1-4 p.m.

FSS America Fest Announcement
The 18th Wing is hosting America Fest July 1-2. During this event, organizations have the opportunity to raise funds by operating food and/or game booths. Booth availability is limited and reservations will be honored on a first come/first serve basis. Reservations are currently only available to Private Organizations chartered with Kadena. Private Organizations wishing to participate must submit reservation requests NLT 3:30 p.m., June 1. After this deadline, Unofficial Organizations will have the opportunity to participate and reserve a booth from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 2 and 7:30 a.m. to noon June 3, providing booths are still available. Please note that America Fest does not count against an organization quarterly fundraising limit.
First meeting: All America Fest participants should ensure to send a representative to the first meeting scheduled at 2:30 p.m., June 7 in the Schilling Community Center "Shi-Shi Room". Deposits for booth reservations, in the amount of $350, will be collected during this meeting as well.

Youth Baseball and Softball Registration Still Open
It's not too late to register your child for baseball or softball. Kadena Youth Sports & Fitness still has spaces available for their summer youth baseball and softball leagues. Spaces are available for ages 9-10 and 11-13 baseball, as well as ages 9-11 and 12-15 girls fast pitch softball.

Overeaters Anonymous Meetings
Do you suspect food rules your life? Overeaters Anonymous may be the answer for you. It is not a diet club, but a fellowship of people recovering from compulsive overeating. O.A. offers mutual support. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop eating compulsively. There are no dues, fees or weigh-ins.

O.A. meetings are every Tuesday from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Health and Wellness Center in the Nutrition Room, same room as the A.A. meetings. Meetings are open anyone that wants to receive strength, courage and hope. Newcomers, non- military, teens and Okinawa residents of are welcome.

18th Wing Memorial Day Ceremony
The 18th Wing cordially invites you to attend a ceremony commemorating Memorial Day, May 30 at 7 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the 18th Wing Headquarters Flag Pole. Buses will be available for pick-up and drop-off at the Rocker NCO Club, the Olympic Mall, and Chapel 1 beginning at 6 a.m. Dress is uniform of the day for military and casual attire for civilians.

RED HORSE Softball Tournament

Hazardous Waste Accumulation Point Manager's Training
The next Hazardous Waste Accumulation Point Manager's training class will be held May 24 at the Environmental Office, Bldg 3621. Registration for the class will begin at 8 a.m. and the class will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude about 3:30p.m. The course is required annually for all primary and alternate Accumulation Point Managers and their supervisors. Students should bring a copy of their HWAP Managers appointment letter.

Project Graduation Golf Tournament
The 2011 Project Graduation Golf Tournament will be held June 3 at the Banyan Tree Golf Course.

Prizes will be awarded to the first, second and last place teams, the Longest Drive on holes 8 and 16 and Closest to the Pin on holes 4 and 12.

There will be a special drawing for all participants at no extra charge. Our prize drawing and awards ceremony will occur at the end of all play. All of the proceeds go to the Kadena High School's Project Graduation Class of 2011.

USO Okinawa's 5th Annual Military Friendship Golf Tournament
Battle of the Branches at the Banyan Tree Golf Course will be Friday, May 27. This year, in addition to the regular tournament play, USO Okinawa will honor the best foursome representing their branch of service as the first reigning USO Okinawa Military Friendship Golf Tournament Branch Champion.

ACE Events
Airmen Committed to Excellence will be holding their 3rd Annual Car & Bike Show May 29 at the Chibana Golf Course from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event is free to attend; SOFA status and local nationals welcome. To enter your car or bike in the competition, please contact Senior Airman Antwon Webster.

ACE will also be having a Talent Competition as part of the Car & Bike Show, May 29. It will kick off at 3 p.m. Each entry will have a maximum of 15 minutes to perform and set-up. The entry fee for each person/group is $25. A $100 Visa gift card will be awarded to the winner.

Pacific Muscle Classic
The 5th Annual Pacific Muscle Classic Bodybuilding, Fitness, and Figure Championships will take place June 5 at the Keystone Theater. Come watch the best of the best military, civilian, and Japanese physiques on display. Prejudging will start at 10 a.m. and the evening show will start at 6 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.

The AFSA monthly meeting will be held June 2 at 11 a.m. in the Rocker NCO Club, Kuba Room. Open to all active duty and retirees. Please attend to hear what AFSA is doing for you.

Kadena ADAPT Ultimate Frisbee Tournament
A free Ultimate Frisbee Tournament open to all SOFA status 18 and over will be held at the Four Corners Softball Field, June 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be five on five, with no limit on how many team members (substitutions) you will have. They're looking for 16 teams for registration. No donations will be accepted. Registration ends June 17 at 4:30 p.m. Games will be 30 minutes long with 15 minute halves.

Also, they're looking for eight volunteers to referee the matches. More details on Kadena ADAPT Program's Facebook page.

Annual CGOC Golf Tournament
The Kadena Company Grade Officers Council will be sponsoring a Golf Tournament at the Banyan Tree Golf Course, June 17. The four-man scramble shotgun start time is 7 a.m., with a 6 a.m. show time. Price will be $40 for E1-E4; $45 for E-5 and above; $60 for MLC/IHA. Price includes 18 holes, a golf cart, and lunch. Also, there will be an awards ceremony and drawings for prizes (including a TaylorMade R11 Driver). Proceeds will benefit CGOC community activities.

Caring for People Forum
The Kadena AB Integrated Service Delivery (IDS) team is planning the Kadena AB 2011 Caring for People Forum. We're looking for military members, civilians, spouses and retirees to join discussion groups organized to hear concerns important to the entire Air Force community. The working group topics for this year's forum are Family Support, Housing Support, Spouse Communications, School Support, Health and Wellness, Single Airman Support, Special Needs Family Members, and Deployment Support. If you have an idea on a policy item that could be changed or a quality of life service that could be improved upon either on Kadena or in the Air Force in general, this is your opportunity to share.

Family Fun and Fitness Festival
The Kadena Exchange, in association with their Defense Commissary Agency partners at the Kadena Commissary, is bringing giveaways and specials to the 2011 Family Fun and Fitness Festival, May 27 through May 30.

Authorized shoppers can have some "fun" by visiting the Kadena Exchange or Commissary and participating in product samplings, fun fitness demonstrations or gearing up to get "fit" with a variety of specials on exercise equipment and healthy drinks and snacks. In addition to shopping and giveaways, customers will be able to contribute to Red Cross sponsored blood drives, receive consultation from professional physical trainers and enjoy fun and fitness as a family with the Kadena Health and Wellness Center and Kadena USO Representatives who will be present.

Bob Hope Primary School Needs "Traffic Flow" Volunteers
Bob Hope Primary School is looking for ongoing volunteers to support traffic flow for morning and afternoon pick up and drop off. The school is also looking for volunteers to help out during recess.

Amelia Earhart Intermediate School Tutoring Opportunity
Amelia Earhart Intermediate School (3rd - 5th grade) is continuously looking for volunteer tutors for a tutoring program which started this past Nov. Tutors are needed from 8-8:40 a.m. and 3:10-4:10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Tutors Needed for Kadena High School Homework Academy
Tutors are needed for the Homework Academy located in Kadena High School's Information Center. The Homework Academy is a time for students to work on school assignments. Tutoring is offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 2-4 p.m.

Kadena Thrift Store Needs Assistance
The Kadena Thrift Store is looking for assistance from anyone with SOFA status above 12 years of age. Volunteer hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Quilters Needed for Pacific Patchwork Guild
Pacific Patchwork Guild is a Kadena based non-profit organization that donates baby quilts to the Camp Lester hospital and Stork's Nest. The group is looking for quilters or people interested in learning. All you need is a sewing machine and a desire to create. Meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of each month at Bob Hope Primary School from 6:30-8 p.m. There will also be a workshop at Bob Hope Primary School on the second Saturday of each month between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Youth Sports Baseball and Softball Coaches Needed
Kadena Youth Sports and Fitness is looking for volunteer coaches for their upcoming youth baseball and softball season. Coaches are needed for ages 5-6 T-Ball, ages 7-8 Coach Pitch, ages 9-10 and 11-13 Baseball, and ages 9-11 and 12-15 girls fast pitch softball. The season will run from June 20 to Sept. 2.

Memorial Day Ceremony Volunteers Needed
The Memorial Day ceremony committee is currently seeking 24 volunteers for an Air Force formation. Six alternates will also be needed as well as one officer to command the formation and one individual who can recite the Air Force Creed.
