Colonel Brian J. Kraemer is the commander of the 440th Airlift Wing Operations Group, Pope Field, N.C. Overseeing more than 575 reservists, active duty and civilian personnel, he ensures that a sixteen aircraft, C-130 active associate group maintains capability to rapidly deploy in response to worldwide contingencies and emergencies.

Col. Kraemer commands operational support, aeromedical evacuation and airlift squadrons as well as an aeromedical evacuation schoolhouse. He also provides operational direction for an active associate airlift squadron and an active associate aeromedical evacuation squadron.

Joining the Army National Guard in 1981, he served as an infantry platoon leader before joining the Air Force Reserve in 1982. As a master navigator instructor/evaluator with more than 7,200 flying hours in C-130E, C-130H3 and WC-130J aircraft, he has performed airdrop, combat airlift and weather reconnaissance missions. With 140 combat sorties and 37 hurricane penetrations to his credit, he has flown and directed combat operations in support of various conflicts and contingencies to include, Desert Shield/Storm, Provide Promise, Southern Watch, Operation Uphold Democracy, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
