MAJ David Martin says:

I was a student in ILE course 12-01, Staff Group 9D. I attended the Advanced Media Training course while I was there and knew at the time that it would be beneficial at some point. What I didn’t know was how soon that point in time would occur.

I have been in the position as the Provost Marshal at Ft. Lee for about 40 days. Yesterday , I had to conduct my first television interview on a recent change to Army policy that affects access procedures to its installations. I took the lesson learned from the AMT course and put them to use. The result was a successful event.

I want to pass on to you and the individuals you will train the future that the training works. I was able to prepare in accordance with the tips we learned at Ft. Leavenworth. I felt much more comfortable than I would have without the training. Thanks again for everything you do.

Many thanks, MAJ Martin! Much of what you learn here at CGSC won’t be applied until long after you leave the school. But it is great for us to hear that you’ve learned some very specific lessons and have been able to put them to use so soon after graduating! Advanced Media Training has recently been discontinued. But we hope the 1,100 officers who took the class during the 2 1/2 years it was offered will make good use of the lessons learned in AMT — and, just as importantly, pass what you’ve learned on to others. Best of luck with your future media engagements!
