Notices: The Fort Bragg Tax Center will be open starting January 23rd and is located on the 6th floor of the Soldier Support Center.

There will be no walk-in hours on Tuesday, February 5th. The office will remain open for notaries and powers of attorney.

Welcome to the 82nd Airborne Legal Assistance Office website.  We provide legal services to the Fort Bragg military community.  This page offers general information regarding the operating hours and services of the 82nd Airborne Division Legal Assistance Office. No attorney-client relationship is being created by your participation on this page. All content is for general informational purposes and is not legal advice. You must speak with an appropriately licensed attorney about specific legal questions.

Legal Assistance Office Hours: 

Please note that Powers of Attorney (POA) and Notary services are available on a walk-up basis during all times the office is open as listed below. The office is closed on federal holidays and XVIII Airborne Corps training holidays.

MONDAYS
0900 - 1100: Will Walk-in time. Let us know if you are deploying.
1330 - 1700: Pre-scheduled appointments.

TUESDAYS
0900 - 1130: General Walk-in time for all matters.
1330 - 1700: Pre-scheduled appointments.

WEDNESDAYS
0900 - 1330: CLOSED
1330 - 1700: Pre-scheduled appointments.

THURSDAYS - Family Law Day
Divorce/Separation Briefings at 0900 and 1300
After the briefing, individuals still needing additional information will be seen on a one-on-one basis with an attorney in the order they arrived to the briefing (i.e. first-come, first-served basis). No other matters are handled on Thursdays.  No appointments will be scheduled for Thursdays. See below for additional information regarding Family Law Day.

FRIDAYS

Legal Assistance Office Services:

Powers of Attorney and Notaries: Powers-of-attorney and notarial services are offered on a walk-in-basis at any time during business hours. General powers-of-attorney and specific powers-of-attorneys are available. Please make sure to bring all information related to the powers you are looking to give in a POA (such as year, make, model and VIN for a Vehicle POA and the correct name, address and phone number of your Attorney-in-fact).

Consumer Law: Debt Collection/Credit Reporting Problems Landlord/Tenant Complaints Identity theft Unsigned Contracts Service Members Civil Relief Act (SCRA)

Wills/Estate Planning: Active duty service members and their spouses are able to get their wills done as a walk-in every Monday from 0900 to 1100. Wills are also provided by appointment. Living wills allow you to make decisions about life support. A Will Worksheet MUST be completed prior to your appointment time to expedite the processing of your Last Will and Testament. Therefore, please arrived at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time in order to fill out the Will Worksheet. More complicated estate planning matters may require a referral to a civilian attorney.

Military Administrative Appeals: The following military-specific cases are handled on an appointment basis:

  • OER and NCOR Appeals
  • FLIPL Rebuttals
  • Memorandums of Reprimand (GOMOR) Rebuttals
  • Others IAW Regulation

Family Law: We handle family law related issues on Thursdays. We DO NOT make appointments for family law related issues on any other day.  Clients that have divorce/separation issues, including support and custody, must attend a briefing prior to consulting an attorney in our office. The briefing is presented on Thursday at 0900 and again at 1300. Only one spouse may attend the briefing. If the post is on a 2-hour or morning delay due to weather, we will only have one briefing at 1300.

Clients that have previously attended a divorce/separation or have other family-related issues (such as adoption, paternity and custody issues where you are not married to the other parent) may consult an attorney in our office (without first attending a briefing) on a walk-in basis on Thursdays from 0900-1130 and 1300-1630. Availability of an attorney is subject to staffing and number of clients already waiting to see an attorney. The Legal Assistance Office does not draft separation agreements.  Our attorneys cannot represent you in court.

Services we CANNOT provide: The following are services we CANNOT provide pursuant to AR 27-3:

  • Military Justice matters (UCMJ)
  • Private business transactions
  • Litigation against the United States
  • Employment matters (except enforcement of USERRA)
