A B-52H Stratofortress bomber crew from the 2d Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., performs a flyover for the Texas Rangers' opening day baseball game at The Ballpark in Arlington April 1. Air Force aerial events keep the public and military informed of U.S. preparedness, demonstrate modern weapons systems, promote good community and international relations, support Air Force recruiting and retention efforts and render military honors. Air Force Global Strike Command assets are scheduled to provide flyovers for a number of aerial events and air shows this year, including the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 May 29. Flyovers are incorporated into regularly scheduled training missions and serve as an additional training opportunity for air crews, with precise time on target execution, and other training scenarios incorporated into the events.
