US, India Conduct an Executive Steering Group

HONOLULU - Senior leaders and planners from the Indian Army, U.S. Army Pacific, Marine Forces Pacific, Special Operations Command, and the Department of the Army, met in Honolulu to discuss future bilateral engagements between the two countries during the 15th Executive Steering Group May 2-4.
The Indian Army-U.S. Army Pacific ESG represented a key venue for information exchange and agreements to enhance engagements between the Indian and United States ground forces.
Lt. Gen. Anand Mohan Verma, director general of Military Operations and Lt. Gen. Francis J. Wiercinski, commander of U.S. Army Pacific served as co-chairs.
"This forum provides senior leaders the opportunity to build relationships between the U.S. and Indian Armies," said Wiercinski. In this room we have the one of the oldest and newest democracies in the world.
During the conference, working groups focused on strengthening partnerships through training and scholarly exchanges.
Over the course of these information exchanges and in separate coordination sessions integrating MARFORPAC and SOCPAC action officers, thirty-five future actions were mutually agreed upon.
By providing the opportunity for the Indian Army to interact with not only USARPAC, but also HQDA, MARFORPAC, and SOCPAC, this ESG made a significant contribution to India-U.S. security cooperation.
