Who We Are

Falling under the U. S. Army Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-1 for Civilian Personnel, Civilian Human Resources Agency (CHRA), the South Central Region is a 400+ group of Civilian Human Resource (CHR) professionals who provide our customers with Civilian Human Resource operational and advisory services in all CHR life-cycle functions: Planning; Structuring; Acquiring; Developing; Deploying; Sustaining; Transitioning. The South Central Region includes the Regional Director’s office, the South Central Civilian Personnel Operations Center (CPOC), and 19 Civilian Personnel Advisory Centers (CPAC).

The Regional Director provides senior leadership and oversight of the CPOC and CPACs, fiscal program oversight, and senior supervisory authority of HR staff within the Region.

The South Central CPOC is located at Redstone Arsenal and is one of five CONUS and two OCONUS Army CPOCs.  The CPOC is the centralized processing and maintenance center for appraisals, awards, personnel actions, and official personnel files (OPFs).

The South Central Region CPACs are on-site advisory offices established to provide top-quality recruitment, position classification, advice and guidance to installation managers, supervisors, and employees on all aspects of employment with the Army.

What We Do

  • Coordinate with managers to ensure timely and accurate processing of all personnel actions. 

  • Provide recruitment and classification services for a multitude of diverse General Schedule, Wage Grade, and Non-appropriated Fund positions. 

  • Executes reduction in force or transfer of function actions with assistance management officials as required. 

  • Offer the right training, to the right employees, at the right price, using a variety of cutting edge and traditional training methods. 

  • Maintain the Official Personnel Folders for the Region. 

  • Solicit input from our customers to improve our services.
