5/4/2012 - KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- Kadena Air Base welcomed two aircraft originally bound for Naha in the past two days.

Late Wednesday a cargo aircraft diverted due to low visibility at Naha and last night a commercial passenger aircraft diverted due to runway construction.

In both instances 18th Wing and 733rd Air Mobility Squadron personnel assisted in providing air traffic control, ground support, snacks and drinks to crew and passengers as they waited to continue on to Naha.

Kadena Air Base is a divert location for Naha airfield and is occasionally used when weather or other situations prevent aircraft from landing at Naha.
