About

Ukraine plays a key role in U.S. foreign policy objectives due to its strategic position between Europe and Eurasia, and its importance to regional stability. The United States is helping Ukraine achieve social and economic security, and supports its goal of EU integration.

Since 1992, USAID has devoted more than $1.7 billion to Ukraine. Today, USAID’s programs primarily focus on good governance, economic growth and strengthened health services.

The Agency’s assistance also targets Crimea--a semi-autonomous peninsula and home to Russia’s Black Sea Fleet--to support the development of a modern and sustainable region fully integrated with Ukraine.
