Standards Policy and Practices for Federal Agencies
Nov 08, 2012 9:00 AM ( Arlington, VA )
On Thursday, November 8, 2012, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will sponsor a full-day workshop, Standards Policy and Practices for Federal Agencies. As standards have become an increasingly vital component of many federal agency programs, the need for discussion on important topics in federal standards setting and use has also grown. This workshop is designed for agencies to:
- Learn about the scope and implementation of the various policies and guidance documents that frame the federal engagement in standards setting
- Understand some of the many dimensions of standards development, including how knowledge of the attributes of a standards development process can enable agency decision making and use of standards
- Hear from leaders in the federal standards community on current standards “hot spots” and challenges
Workshop keynote speaker, CPSC Commissioner Robert Adler – a passionate, informed, and articulate consumer protection advocate – will address how standards have enabled the CPSC to address its mission in new and efficient ways.
Please come to learn and contribute to what will be a robust and engaging discussion of standards issues and opportunities facing federal agencies today.
This event is intended for government staff and executives from all agencies engaged in standards policy, participation and use. There is no cost to attend, but advance registration is required by Monday, November 5. This workshop is open to government agency personnel only.
