Lamborn Announces Staff Changes in DC and District Office

Today, Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) announced several changes to his Washington D.C. and Colorado Springs Offices.

Chief of Staff Robert McCreary will be leaving the office to take a position as senior vice president of global business development and government relations at NEK Advanced Securities Group.

Chris Phelen will take over as Chief of Staff.  Phelen had been serving as the deputy chief of staff. He has also been military legislative assistant for the Congressman for the last three years.

Legislative Director Craig Rushing will assume the role of deputy Chief of Staff.  Rushing will also continue his duties as legislative director.

“My staff does a wonderful job serving the constituents of Colorado’s Fifth Congressional District. My long-time chief of staff, Robert McCreary, has been loyal and tireless in his service to the people of Colorado. While I will miss him greatly, I know he has tremendous opportunities for success and service ahead of him.

“My new chief of staff, Chris Phelen, has been with me since my first day in office, and I am certain his knowledge and experience on military and other issues key to Colorado will bring added value to his new position. I look forward to him heading my team as we strive to serve Coloradans in Congress.”—Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)

The Congressman also hired a former resident of Colorado, Erin Newton, to serve as his new scheduler.  Newton, who grew up in the Fifth Congressional District, is a 2007 graduate of Pepperdine University and former intern on his staff.  Erin comes back to Lamborn’s office after working as a staff assistant for Congressman Joe Pitts (PA-16).  She will replace Abby Gunderson, who has been promoted to legislative assistant.  Lamborn also promoted Mallori McClure and Rachel Lee to be legislative assistants.  They will assist the Congressman on various legislative issues.

“I am excited to welcome Erin back to our office.  As a native of Buena Vista, Colorado, I know she will bring her can-do Colorado spirit with her, and is sure to be an asset to our team. My new legislative assistants will be making valuable contributions, and I look forward to continuing to work with them as well.”—Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)

Lamborn named Daniel Nordberg district director in his Colorado Springs office.  Nordberg previously served as a legislative assistant in Washington and then deputy district director in Colorado.

“Given Dan’s multifaceted experience in Colorado and Washington, I know he will make an excellent and dedicated district director.  Having worked with Dan since my first campaign for Congress in 2006, I know his insight and dedication to Colorado is unmatched.”—Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)
