LTC Michael E. Brandt



     LTC Mike Brandt is a 1989 Distinguished Military Graduate of Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. Upon commissioning in Air Defense Artillery he served from 1989-1991 as a Vulcan and Chaparral Platoon Leader and Battery Executive Officer in the 5th Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment in Bitburg, Germany. From 1992-1995 he served as an Assistant S-3, Battalion S-1, and Battery Commander in 3rd Battalion, 62nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment at Fort Drum, New York, deploying to Somalia in 1993 and Haiti in 1994. From 1996-1998 he attended the Defense Language Institute, graduate school at the Monterey Institute of International Studies and then spent a year as a Foreign Area Officer at the American Embassy in Bonn, Germany. From 1999-2003 he served as the Assistant Division Air Defense Officer and Battalion XO in 1st Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment at Fort Hood, Texas. He deployed with the 4th Infantry Division to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom in March 2003. From 2003-2004 he served as an Air Defense advisor for the United States Military Training Mission (USMTM) to Saudi Arabia. In September 2004 he served in a joint assignment as a Theater Ballistic Missile Defense Plans Officer to NATO Combined Air Operations Center 5 in Vicenza, Italy. From 2007-2009 he served as the Senior Air Defense Officer for 10th Mountain Division and deployed to Iraq with the division. Upon redeploying, LTC Brandt served again in a joint assignment as a NATO Defense Planner at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium from 2009-2012.

    LTC Brandt’s awards include the Bronze Star (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, and the Airborne and Air Assault badges.
