Captain Jason L. Horton is a native of Kalamazoo, MI. He enlisted in the US Army in March, 1994 as an Infantryman and attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, GA. He transitioned from the Infantry in 2000 to serve as a career Army Recruiter. He has served in a variety of enlisted leadership positions from Infantry Team Leader to Medical Recruiting Region NCOIC. His enlisted assignments include Fort Benning, GA; Fort Kobbe, Panama; Fort Hood, TX; as well as Atlanta, GA; Lexington, KY; and Nashville, TN while assigned to the United States Army Recruiting Command.

In June, 2007 Captain Horton received his commission from Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, GA. Upon completion of the Infantry Basic Officer Leadership Course he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 19th Infantry as an Executive Officer for an Infantry OSUT Company. He was subsequently assigned to the 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, GA where he served as the Brigade Commander’s Security Platoon Leader and Adjutant. He deployed with the 3rd HBCT from 2009 to 2010 for Operation Iraqi Freedom VII.

Captain Horton has an Associate of Arts Degree in Marketing from Coastline Community College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Multi-Disciplinary Studies from Liberty University. His military education and training includes: Infantry Basic Officer Course; Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course; Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course; Primary Leadership Development Course; Army Recruiting Station Commander Course; Army Recruiter Course; Basic Airborne Course; and Air Assault Course. His awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal; Army Commendation Medal, 3rd Oak Leaf; Army Achievement Medal, 4th Oak Leaf; Global War on Terror Service Medal; Expert Infantryman Badge; and Army Recruiter Gold Badge.

Captain Horton is married, they have two daughters.
