PAD-US version 1.2 was released in April 2011 and can be summarized with these overall statistics – more refined summary statistics will be provided at a future date:
- Approximate number of records: 635,500
- Approximate number of holdings: 96,000
- Approx. 1 billion acres in data set (includes GAP 1-4)
- 49 agency types represented. “Owner Name” summary contains major land owners by name (e.g. BLM, USFS, NPS, TNC) and standardizes state agency and local gov groups (e.g. State Fish and Wildlife, State Parks and Rec, State DNR, city land, county land).
- 946 official Marine Protected Areas, with 1.75 billion GIS acres (Many MPA’s overlap each other and other designated protected areas (e.g. National Parks or National Wildlife Refuges may also be official MPAs and are included in the PAD-US and PAD-US: MPA feature classes)
