TEEIC Laws and Regulations Section Guide

A guide to information provided about federal laws, regulations, and Executive Orders in the Laws and Regulations section of this Web site.

The Laws and Regulations section of the TEEIC Web site provides summary information and relevant Web links for federal laws and regulations applicable to utility-scale energy development on tribal lands.

Where available, the following information is provided for federal laws, regulations, and Executive Orders that may apply to energy development activities on tribal lands:

For each potentially applicable law:

  • A brief description of the scope and intent of the law and related regulations and, in some cases, the context in which the law might apply to tribal energy development projects;
  • The U.S. Code citation and a link to the full text of the law (in some instances, you will need to scroll down the linked page to get to the relevant citation);
  • The Code of Federal Regulation citation(s) for relevant regulations promulgated under the authority of that law, a discussion of which regulations may be applicable to energy development, and links to the regulations (in some instances, you will need to scroll down the linked page to get to the relevant citation);
  • Links to relevant Web sites providing information about the law, related regulations, and/or specific Federal programs; and
  • Links to Web sites providing information about specific tribal programs related to that law.

For each potentially applicable Executive Order:

  • Its name and a brief description of the scope and intent of the Order, including the date on which it was issued:
  • A link to the full text of the Executive Order;
  • Links to relevant Web sites providing information about the Order, its implementation, and/or specific Federal Programs; and
  • Links to Web sites providing information about specific tribal programs related to that Order.
