    Urbanator in Warsaw

    Urbanator performed a concert and jam sessionon on December 5 in Stodola Club in Warsaw.Polish - American music project URBANATOR DAYS is the unique opportunity for musical youth to debut their talent on stage with top professional jazz musicians from New York and London. Stars coached on violin, percussion, guitar, bass guitar, key board and piano music and singing.

    10th International Film Festival WATCH DOCS

    10th International Film Festival WATCH DOCKS. Human Rights in Film opened at the Warsaw Kino Muranow in December. The first Polish retrospective of Wiseman's works was presented. A master class led by Frederick Wiseman took place on Saturday, Dec. 4 at Kino Muranow.

    War Veterans Projection in Warsaw

    New York based media artist Krzysztof Wodiczko, renowned for his large-scale video projections on architectural facades and monuments, will bring his War Veteran Projection to Warsaw on November 9-10. Sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and the Profile Foundation, Wodiczko’s War Veteran Projection involves Polish veterans of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

    American Film Festival Opens in Wroclaw

    Wednesday, October 20 is the opening of the American Film Festival in Wroclaw, the first festival devoted solely to contemporary American cinema in our part of Europe, and supported by a grant from the U.S. Embassy. The organizers’ main goal is to present the fullest possible picture of American cinema.

    The U.S. Embassy Warsaw is sponsoring the participation of five American speakers invited to Poland for lectures and seminars within the second edition of the Warsaw Under Construction festival organized by the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, October 1-31, 2010.

    “Lodz Symphony” and more American films by Peter Hutton at Lodz MIASTOGRAF Festival on October 9. (PREXER, 14:30)

    A retrospective of documentaries by one of cinema's most ardent and poetic portraitists of city and landscape, Peter Hutton will be one of the highlights of the 3rd Miastograf Festival in Lodz. Held at the former film projectors factory PREXER (ul. Pomorska 39/41), the show will present his cityscape films, including the legendary Lodz Symphony shot in the early 1990s.

    American conceptual, interdisciplinary dance and media artist Bill Shannon will perform, talk and teach dancers during the Ninth International Cialo/Umysl Dance Festival. Influenced by house and hip hop dance forms, silent film acting and skateboard culture, Bill Shannon presents his evening length solo, "Spatial Theory."

    In Honor of Samuel Pisar

    On September 1, Ambassador Feinstein hosted a reception in honor of Samuel Pisar, who was in Warsaw to perform his Kaddish: A Dialogue with God with Sinfonia Varsovia. Mr. Pisar first performed this libretto, written for Leonard Bernstein’s Symphony No. 3, with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 2003. His performance in Warsaw was part of the seventh annual Singer Festival of Jewish Culture.

    Attention Women: 80 Portraits Opens in Gdansk

    The Attention Women: 80 Portraits exhibition by New York-based photographer Barbara Yoshida opened at the National Museum in Gdansk on September 3. The exhibit is sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and Ambassador Feinstein is an honorary patron.

    Ambassador Feinstein Previews Floodwall Opening in Wroclaw

    During a July 13 meeting with Director Mariusz Hermansdorfer, Ambassador Feinstein previewed the thought-provoking artistic installation Floodwall, which opens at the National Museum in Wroclaw on July 14. Floodwall, which will be exhibited through September 5, presents drawers that artist Jana Napoli collected from New Orleans homes devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

    The award-winning gospel quartet Oscar Williams Jr. and Perfected Praise made a concert tour of Poland July 1-4 to intrigue local audiences with their varied musical styles and enrich celebrations of the 4th of July.Oscar Williams Jr. and Perfected Praise traveled all the way from the United States to play in Warsaw, Kielce, and Kraków.  »

  • Berklee College of Music Faculty in Poland

    Berklee College of Music faculty members John Wilkins, guitar, and Victor Mendoza, percussion instruments, visited Poland to meet Polish students and faculty for workshops and concerts in Katowice, Krakow and Warsaw in March.

    Roni Horn Exhbition to Open in Warsaw

    An exhibition of the works of Roni Horn, a distinguished American female artist, opened on April 29 at 18:00 at the Center for Contemporary Art at Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw. The exhibition presents a series of her most recent works, including You are the Weather (1994-1995), Cabinet of (2001), Bird &nbs p;(2008) and a.k.a. (2008/2009).
