Colonel Robert (Bob) A. Barker
COL Barker began his military career in 1986 when he received a reserve commission in the Signal Corps and a Bachelor (BS) of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering after graduation from Arkansas State University. In 2000, he received a Masters Degree in Computer Resources and Information Technology from Webster University, and a Masters in Strategic Studies from the Army War College in 2009.
He is a graduate of the Signal Officer Basic Course, Signal Officer Advanced Course, Communications Electronics Staff Officer Course, Tactical Signal Staff Officer Course, Combined Arms Service Staff School (CAS3), the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the United States Army War College.
COL Barker’s assignments include: Squadron Signal Officer 1-10 Cavalry, Brigade Radio Officer, 194TH Armored Brigade, Fort Knox, Kentucky; Battalion Signal Officer 94TH Combat Heavy Engineer Battalion, Darmstadt, Germany; Battalion S4, Assistant Battalion S3, Company Commander, 440TH Signal Battalion, Darmstadt, Germany; Operations Officer, Theater Communications Control Cell (TCCC) (Forward), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia; Signal Observer Controller (OC), 2ND Simulation Exercise Group, 75TH Exercise Division, Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Battalion S3, 504TH Signal Battalion, Brigade S3, 11TH Signal Brigade, Fort Huachuca, Arizona, Battalion Commander, 63RD Signal Battalion, 93rd Signal Brigade, Satellite Desk Officer, COCOM Branch Chief, and Deputy Division Chief, Current Operation, Joint Staff J6; Director, Concepts, Requirements, and Doctrine Division (CRDD), and the Director, Capabilities Development Integration Division (CDID) of the Signal Center of Excellence.
His decorations include: the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Force Achievement Medal with “V” device, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with Bronze Star, the Iraqi Campaign Medal the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Overseas Service Medal with Numeral “4“. He is also authorized to wear the Parachutist Badge and the Joint Chief of Staff Identification Badge.
