U.S. Antarctic Program - What's New? Section United States Antarctic Program

The United States Antarctic Program (USAP) web portal has a new look!  The new design is better organized, more intuitive, and provides fresh content in a compelling and functional way to better serve the program and enhance public awareness and education.

Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) serves as the curator of this site under contract to the National Science Foundation (NSF).

This is an official U.S. government web site representing the USAP, under the management of the NSF.  This site adheres to all applicable federal requirements and regulations. Representation by participant organizations is at the direction of, and in compliance with, the policies of the NSF.

If you have any questions or would like to contact us, please see our Contact  page.  We would like to hear your thoughts on the new format.

Life at a Remote Field Camp

What's it like to live more than 900 miles (nearly 1,500 kilometers) from McMurdo Station in West Antarctica? The video podcast Life @ Byrd Surface Camp, Podcast #5 in a series produced by the POLENET project, describes life at the camp during the 2009-2010 field season.

Life at a Remote Field Camp is featured on the Educational Opportunities and Resources page.
