Mobile Banking Jobs

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is dedicated to reducing poverty, promoting economic development, and strengthening democracy around the world. USAID recently established a new team to help the agency leverage mobile phones for more effective and cost-efficient development outcomes. This team will emphasize the opportunity for accelerating access to financial services for the poor using mobile phones and branchless banking business models. The team is expected to harness the mobile banking phenomenon for the poor by drawing on the Agency’s relationships with host-country banking regulators, encouraging implementing partners around the world to capitalize on mobile and electronic payments technology, and provide assistance to private sector partners as they launch and scale mobile banking products around the world.

Over the next year this team will be using various hiring mechanisms to recruit highly motivated staff with various skill sets including: partnership development with the private sector including experience with business plan analysis, banking and technology industry experience and technical understanding, and project management for managing a network of implementation programs across several countries. The mobile applications team is also recruiting Innovation Fellows for highly selective full and part-time positions. Innovation Fellows are development leaders in academia and the private sector who will collaborate with USAID staff to develop, evaluate and scale effective projects.

We will consider candidates for two position categories, civil service and non-civil service. Candidates interested in civil service positions should periodically visit the USAID website (www.usaid.gov/careers) and the USA Jobs website (www.usajobs.gov) and apply to Mobile Banking. Candidates interested in all other positions should send their resumes to MobileBankingJobs@usaid.gov and use the email subject line to state their primary skill set from those listed in bold in the paragraph above. Candidates should be U.S. citizens. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
