Thank you for allowing our soldiers to call home. It was wonderful to hear my husband's voice again. Thank you and my family and I cannot wait until we are able to finally meet everyone in person. Have a great and safe next two weeks.

Just to keep up with all the comments, our website admin has been down for a few days. I apologize for the inconvience.

Elyse- Each state runs their own OCS program how they see fit. I am not particularly sure how the National Guard does it because I'm active duty. I can say that generally, many of the Soldiers who come through basic to go to OCS go immediately afterwards. If at all possible, try to contact your Soldier's National Guard unit and inquire with either the S1 (Personnel) or S3 (Operations) cells. They should be able to get you in the right direction. Ali Kelley- Yes, he will get better with more time and practice. After 7 years of doing this, I consistantly shoot expert, as your Soldiers have seen me do. However, the very first time I tried to qualify, I shot 11 out of 40. So, anyone can do it. Soon it will be second nature and they won't think about it anymore. Jodi Hayes- Will try to get more pictures up. We are heading into the field next week to do hand grenades and the Urban Assault Course, so I anticipate some good action shot. I have some video from the NBC chamber which I am debating putting up. Its been extremely hot these past few days and we've been concentrating on training and staying alive. So our picture taking opportunities have been slight.

Captain LeMay, I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, as the blog is not about this but I am very confused about something. My soldier is in your company and he is supposed to go to OCS next. He is in the national guard here in MD. His recruiter told him that after basic he would come home and go through OCS with the guard (one weekend a month, for approx. 2 years) but others have told me that he will go straight to OCS from basic. Could you offer some insight into this? Thank you!

Awesome results! We are very happy to get a letter from our son Yoshi today that he passed his BRM qualification. He may have not reached the sharpshooter score but he passed. He thinks he will get better as he does more. We are very proud of you! We are just waiting for another letter if he pass his PT today. We believe he can do it as well. We love and miss you... 4 1/2 weeks more to go....
