    Space Shuttle Endeavour pays Tribute to White Sands Test Facility

    Piggybacked on a 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft at an altitude of about 1500 ft, Space Shuttle Endeavour first flew slowly around White Sands Missile Range before traveling to the White Sands Test Facility (WSTF), to the delight of hundreds of NASA and contractor personnel. After paying tribute to WSTF, Endeavour flew over the city of Las Cruces, NM on the way to its final destination in California.

    Space Shuttle Endeavour to Grace the Skies of Southern New Mexico

    Endeavour’s flight from Kennedy Space Center to Johnson Space Center and the subsequent flight over New Mexico has been delayed due to weather along the gulf coast. Endeavour will now fly over southern NM on Thursday, September 20th, 2012. Detailed information about the flight will be shared via twitter by following #OV105, #SpotTheShuttle, or @EndeavourOverNM on https://twitter.com.

    White Sands Test Facility’s Fabulously Fun Food Drive

    Employees from the White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) are shopping again! They are collecting food for two local non-profit agencies: one that is currently feeding 68 children two meals and a snack each day this summer, and another that supplies food for up to 1700 families each month. All this shopping for this many people could be mind-boggling, but employees and their employers at WSTF have it covered.

    The dream to one day work at NASA’s White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) began with the inclusion of Michael Hallock III in his father’s work at the remote test facility. Michael Hallock Jr. included his family members (daughter Nicola and wife Julie) in his work as an Industrial Engineer in the Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate.     New Mexico State University (NMSU) President Barbara Couture, White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) U.S. Army Brigadier General John G. Ferrari, and NASA’s White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) Manager Frank Benz teamed up to discuss the issues of training and employment with recent NMSU graduates and their WSMR and WSTF employers.
