Press Release

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Wagner (R-MO) released the following statement in reaction to the December jobs report from the U.S. Department of Labor. A net total of 155,000 jobs were created, and the unemployment rate for December rose to 7.8 percent from the 7.7 percent rate previously reported for November.

“Once again, President Obama missed another critical moment to lead our country out of our massive deficit, reform our entitlement system and reform our tax code. Instead, the president raised taxes on small business owners during a time of anemic job-growth,” said Rep. Ann Wagner. “In order to restore confidence in the marketplace we must tackle our country’s crippling debt or the economy and those Americans who are out of work will continue to struggle.  It is up to us in the 113th Congress to get Americans working again and I look forward to getting that done.”
