Debate Continues Over the Benefits of Estrogen Therapy

July 27, 2005

A new study conducted by VA investigator Dr. Ellis R. Levin and his University of California, Irvine (UCI) colleagues, provides more evidence that hormone replacement therapy after menopause can help prevent certain forms of cardiovascular disease. Support for this study came from the Department of Veterans Affairs and the National Institutes of Health. These findings will continue the debate about whether or not estrogen therapy benefits post-menopausal women in regard to heart health.1 Study results were reported online at Medical News Today available at http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/printerfriendlynews.php?newsid=27674.
