The following are currently scheduled static displays for the 2012 Airshow.
 

On behalf of Scott Air Force Base, I bid you a hearty welcome to the 2012 Airpower Over the Midwest Air Show, featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds! It's been six years since the Thunderbirds last joined us here, so we're extremely proud to be hosting them once again! There's nothing quite like their amazing, high speed performance.

Joining the Air Force's high-powered, precision performance team are the U.S. Special Operations Command's Para-Commandos. They will perform a precision parachute freefall demo, as well as be on hand to talk to everyone about their mission and the great work being performed by the Special Operations Command's Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen who are deployed to over 100 countries around the world.

There will be plenty of aircraft on display from fighter jets to heavy airlift workhorses, such as the C-17. However, if you are not familiar with all the platforms in our military inventory, that's all right, too.

The air show gives you the opportunity to meet your servicemen and women who will gladly explain and demonstrate the missions of the United States Armed Forces. These are America's finest. They have served on the front lines of battle in Iraq and Afghanistan. We encourage you to talk to them, to learn more about what they do, and hear their stories of sacrifice and service.

Along with showcasing our military might, the air show is our way of recognizing our close relationship with the surrounding communities and thanking them for their support throughout the year. It truly takes a team effort to put on such a spectacular show, and we could not do it without our community partners and our commercial sponsors.

Special thanks to our many Greater Scott Community partners and commercial sponsors for their generous donations of time, money and support to ensure the 2012 Airpower Over the Midwest air show is a success! Their assistance is critical for putting together a world class event, and their hard work and dedication over the last several months has been instrumental in enabling us to bring the ground displays and aerial demonstrations to this year's air show.

The 2012 air show marks the 95th Anniversary of Scott AFB! What started as a humble aviation station pre-World War II has blossomed during the years with a variety of missions to include flying training, radio operations, aeromedical evacuations. Now the 375th AMW supports 30 tenant units that include major commands for the Army and Air Force as well as the DoD. We still provide critical support in transportation, secure communications, and global mobility for our nation! In addition, the Air Force is celebrating its 65th Anniversary this year, so we're pleased to be able to share our successes with you as we demonstrate our capabilities as YOUR Air Force!

When you watch the demonstration teams take to the skies, when you walk through the aircraft on display, when you shake hands with military men and women--be proud. This is your United States military.

We are grateful for the patriotic American citizens who support us. The 2012 Airpower Over the Midwest Air Show is our way of saying "thanks" in return. We are confident the day will be filled with enjoyable memories. So again, welcome to Scott AFB and enjoy the show!
