Create an Extra Special Event Experience for Your Family
Tips - #1 Know before you go. Help your child know what to expect before a new, special event. If it's her first time at a live show, explain that the lights will go down, the curtain will open, and some of her Sesame Street friends will be on the stage. Encourage your child to compare her new experiences with things she's already seen or done. Share Share via email Share via Twitter Share via Facebook
- #2 Prepare with planning. Whether it's picking out his most comfy sneakers for a visit to the theme park or his favorite swimming trunks for a beach vacation, involving your child in the planning will give him a sense of "I can do it" and excitement about the event. - #3 Make a memory. Your event may be over, but the good time can keep going. Ask your child to draw all about his big day. What does he want to remember? He can draw things he liked, something that happened, or even create a picture about the way he felt. Hang the finished picture in your child's room or put it in a folder to start a "memory journal" that you can add to and look back on together.
