21st OSS warrior

IRAQ -- Senior Airman Sandra Jacobs, an airfield manager for the 447th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron in Iraq, was named warrior of the week twice for her unit, and warrior of the month once each for her unit and group. Jacobs is deployed from the 21st Operations Support Squadron here. As part of her duties, she has worked a $1.2 million airfield construction project where she was responsible for 25 personnel and eight vehicles. She also facilitated the smooth transition of two Department of State helicopters off an Antonov AN-124 cargo aircraft, ensuring on-time Operation New Dawn assets and minimum impact to airfield operations. She oversaw the airfield driving program, trained more than 150 drivers and issued approximately 120 drivers’ licenses. Jacobs also helped distribute toiletries and clothing to more than 80 Iraqi families, and regularly volunteered at morale and welfare events including the USO, post office and a volleyball tournament, boosting morale of coalition forces. USAFA band returns

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – Members of the U.S. Academy Band greet Wild Blue Country June 2, 2011, at the Colorado Springs airport. Wild Blue Country, part of the U.S. Air Force Academy Band stationed at Peterson AFB, returned from a mission with the Air Force Central Command Band. As part of the AFCENT band, Wild Blue Country traveled to Kyrgyzstan, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, Afghanistan and Qatar performing concerts focusing on troop morale and international community relations. Returning band members included Senior Master Sgt. Jerome Oddo, Master Sgts. Karl Bradley and Janusz Masztalerz, and Tech. Sgts. Stephen Brannen, Tim Stombaugh and Jeff Valentine. SFS Airman recieves Elizabeth Jacobson Award

Staff Sgt. Archie Garcia, 21st Security Forces Squadron, who was deployed in 2010 to a forward operating base in Afghanistan, is the recipient of the Elizabeth Jacobson Award for Expeditionary Excellence, given for outstanding performance during deployment. Sergeant Garcia, along with Master Sgt. Lee Stevenson, also a member of the 21st SFS, fended off an attack by Afghanistan insurgents on the base during a two-hour gunfight. Sgt. Ramirez

Just 24 hours after receiving CPR recertification, Staff Sgt.
