The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is proud to be involved with the Operation War Fighter Program. This program allows wounded Active Duty/Active Duty Oklahoma Army National Guard Soldiers returning from overseas service to work within the Tulsa District during their medical recovery. This allows and assists the Soldiers' transition from military to civilian life while either learning a new trade or continuing an existing one. This program is being established throughout the State of Oklahoma, together with other state and federal agencies. Currently, the Tulsa District has six wounded warriors working at different locations within our District. We expect more Soldiers to arrive to the District in the near future. Mission

Emergency Response

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Emergency Management team stands ready to serve the nation during any disaster. When severe storms, floods and/or other natural disasters strike the Nation, the Corps, along with federal, state and local agencies, is organized to respond quickly and efficiently to solve a broad range of technical and environmental challenges. The Corps provides temporary restoration of water supplies and wastewater treatment systems, drinkable water, ice, generators and temporary housing. The Corps removes debris, inspects structures and repairs damaged streets, bridges, ports, waterway, airfield and other facilities necessary for emergency access to disaster victims as well as provides flood-fighting materials. The Tulsa District has supported and continues to support other Divisions during hurricanes, and other natural disasters, just as we have fought floods in our own Division.

Field Force Engineering

The Field Force Engineering, or FFE program, is a way to leverage the expertise of USACE civilian technical experts to more directly support the warfighters. Tulsa District has several distinct elements of FFE support. The district provides one of the Base Development Teams, or BDTs. This group remains within the district office to work on projects sent to the USACE Reachback Operations Center. Tulsa’s BDT has a long history of excellence in its support of the mission.

Another important part of FFE is the group of Forward Engineering Support Teams (FESTs). There are two types of teams, the FEST-A and the FEST-M. The FEST-A, or Forward Engineering Support Team-Advanced, is a small group of 6-10 technical experts with a military team leader. The FEST-M, or Forward Engineering Support Team-Main, is a larger group of 30-50 which acts as a small deployable district office substitute and can provide command and control as well as administrative support to several FEST-As. Two types of FEST-As currently exist within USACE. Tulsa’s FEST-A is a legacy team with a history of deployments to Djibouti, Iraq, Afghanistan, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, and Korea all on its resume, as well as numerous deployments to the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, California.
