Summary: The Palm Beach County Family Drug Court (PBCFDC) is seeking to protect children, reunite families, and to expedite permanency by providing substance abusing parents with support, treatment, and access to evidence-based services. Program capacity will increase by addressing issues of engagement and retention for new participants. Existing collaborations will be expanded to construct a support team, consisting of a Recovery Specialist (to coordinate all aspects of substance abuse treatment), an Outpatient Life Coach (responsible for providing therapeutic interactions and intensive case management) and a Dependency Case Manager (to ensure all child welfare needs are met and to serve as the lead). Training will be provided for service providers and the PBCFDC team to include interdisciplinary cross training, motivational interviewing and trauma informed care. Tailored evidence based assessments and interventions for the parents and children will be employed beginning at the initial shelter hearing and throughout the case. Short and long term outcomes will be tracked through our drug court information management system. Our Service Collaboration Portal will also facilitate an increase in data sharing and collection. Long and short term outcome measures will be reported back to an Advisory Committee to leverage long term support of the program.
