  Colonel Jeffrey M. Sanborn
Fort Bragg Garrison Commander

 Colonel Jeffrey M. Sanborn began his military career by enlisting as an Artilleryman in November 1984.  After his initial assignment to 4th Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, he attended the United States Military Academy, where he was later commissioned into the Field Artillery.  His military education includes training at the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course and Advanced Course, the United States Army Command and General Staff College, and the United States Army War College.  He holds a Masters of Business Administration and a Masters of Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan.

 Colonel Sanborn’s commissioned military service includes assignments to the 1st Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division; Headquarters, 82nd Airborne Division; 6th Battalion, 37th Field Artillery, 2nd Infantry Division; 2nd Battalion, 15th Field Artillery Regiment, 10th Mountain Division; Headquarters, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division; Headquarters, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division; and 2nd Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division.  

Colonel Sanborn’s previous duties include service as a company fire support officer, battery fire direction officer, battery executive officer, and aide-de-camp.  He also served as a battalion fire support officer and commanded two batteries (A Battery, 6th Battalion, 37th Field Artillery and E Battery, 7th Field Artillery).  Colonel Sanborn’s more recent service has included duty as a brigade fire support officer, battalion S3, division artillery S3, division SGS, brigade XO, brigade DCO, and division deputy chief of staff.  During these recent assignments, all in the 82nd Airborne Division, he served in Operation Enduring Freedom (July 2002 – January 2003), in Operation Iraqi Freedom (August 2003 – March 2004), and again in Operation Enduring Freedom (January 2007 – December 2007).  He commanded 2nd Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment including service during Operation Unified Response (January 2010 – March 2010) in Haiti.  Most recently, Colonel Sanborn served as Inspector General to the 82nd Airborne Division.

 Colonel Sanborn’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Joint Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the GWOT Service and Expeditionary medals, the Army Occupation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, and the Humanitarian Service Medal.  His badges and other decorations include the Ranger Tab, the Combat Action Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, the Pathfinder Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.
