Tips for U.S. Citizens Visiting or Living in Kenya

When renewing or applying for a work permit, beware of whom you deal with. Using a "broker" or alleged facilitator is not recommended and it is advisable that you apply in person or representative from your organization at the Immigration office in Nyayo house.

If in the U.S.: Single-entry Kenyan Visas may be obtained upon arrival in Kenya at the airport, port of entry or at the Kenyan Embassy in Washington, 2249 R Street, N.W., Washington D.C. 20008. Telephone 1-202-387-6101 or fax 1-202-462-3829 or e-mail info@kenyaembassy.com. Visas issued by the Embassy are issued within three working days from the date of application. A single entry visa costs $50 and $100 for multiple entry visas for each applicant regardless of age, and whether obtained in advance or at the airport.

If in Kenya: Multiple-entry visas are normally issued at the Immigration office in Nyayo house and are normally valid for a period of six to twelve months. For more information please visit the Kenya Immigration website.
