                                                  AFOSI IMA reserve positions

Final approval of any assignment to AFOSI is based on satisfactory results from the Applicant Suitability Investigation (ASI) which takes approximately 50 days.

Agent Positions:
AFOSI only considers E5/E6 applicants for retraining. All other ranks (to include officers) must be fully qualified. Fully qualified means completion of FLETC's CITP and BSIC.

First, complete AF Form 1288. If you are a traditional reservist (TR) it must be signed by your losing wing commander; IMAs need signatures from both the losing commander and losing RMG/PM. Guard members need signatures from both the losing commander and a reserve recruiter. Inactive (any prior service) must contact a reserve recruiter. If you are an active duty agent you need both your region commander and a reserve recruiter's signature. Assignment preferences: Annotate in block 16, but please realize we can't guarantee assignment to that location. IMAs can be assigned anywhere AFOSI performs duty. Therefore, we do allow for some flexibility when scheduling duty. Drills can be performed at an AFOSI location close to your home of residence when coordinated with your assigned unit.

Then, contact the nearest AFOSI unit to initiate initial screening. If the unit leadership recommends you for agent duty, they will initiate the applicant suitability investigation. The AFOSI unit will assist you in setting up an interview and completing all documentation. They will be your POC throughout the process. If you need the phone number for the AFOSI unit on your base, please call the base operator or send an email to AFOSI. Civilian.Recruiting@ogn.af.mil.

Once the ASI is approved, the AFOSI Det that worked your case will notify you of your selection. You will receive an email from RMG Det. 11 with your new assignment info and instructions. Ensure you are current on all readiness requirements (PHA, dental and fitness test) to prevent any delays in the assignment process.

Non-agent positions: Advertised on the AF Portal/RMVS

First, complete AF Form 1288. If you are a traditional reservist (TR) it must be signed by your losing wing commander; IMAs need signatures from both their losing commander and losing RMG/PM. Guard members need signatures from both the losing commander and a reserve recruiter. If you are active duty you need signatures from both your region commander and a reserve recruiter. Inactive (any service) must contact a reserve recruiter for all actions.

Second, send RMG Det. 11 (RMGDet11.Assignments@afncr.af.mil) a complete package which consists of (1) the signed AF Form 1288, (2) last 3 performance reports and (3) a Record Review Rip (RRR). They will send your package to AFOSI/DPR to initiate the applicant suitability investigation.

Once the ASI is approved, RMG Det. 11 will contact you. Ensure you are current on all readiness requirements (PHA, dental and fitness test) to prevent any delays in the assignment process.

Note to recruiter: Do not submit the 1288 in AFRISS until RMG Det 11 notifies you that the member's ASI is approved . Otherwise, it will "sit" in AFRISS and flag as overdue.
