[ - ] Am absolutely hysterical. Dd is 5, puked once after complaining about major stomach pain and attempting to poop for an hour with little result I thought she was constipated, so I gave her a stool softener, and half an hour later, that's when she puked. She's still complain about tummy pain and thought she was gonna puke, but is with she now in my bed. I, however, am the asshole mother hiding in my ds bed. He was awoken by the hubbub. My fear of illness and vomit is out of control. I have the shakes, my cheeks are burning and I took a Xanax. I hate myself and need help, but don't know where to start. Help me, please. 11 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

First thing you need to do is take your kid to the hospital. Sounds like it could be appendicitis. [ Reply | More ]

It usually starts at the navel. Does she have a fever? I'm not trying to freak you out, but when my son had it, I basically made fun of him because he was whining incessantly about it and I thought it was just the flu. Turned out to be appendicitis. If she throws up again tonight, I'd take her. [ Reply | More ]

Np: my thought too--if she thought she needed to poop but ended up puking that's a red flag. Have her jump up and down and see if that hurts her tummy. [ Reply | More ]

First have her jump and see if she experiences sharp pain or the urge to puke or diarrhea. If low 60s I'd take her to NY Presbyterian--but only if the jump test goes badly or she pukes again. [ Reply | More ]

Google jump test for appendicitis--I've had appendicitis as this is the one consistent symptom--jumping up and down is awful. It could be indigestion--don't think ER unless jumping has her in serious pain. It will be ok! [ Reply | More ]

Take some deep breaths and try to collect yourself for your Dd's sake. You're going to scare her half to death. Is your DH around? Can he help? Is there an on call dr at your pediatricians office that you can call? If no and you really don't know what to do, if your dd is in pain go to the ER. Worst case scenario, it's and unpleasant, sleepless night. [ Reply | More ]

This is the year I have to make partner, so there's that, but he lost his job and while he is finding freelance work, I am the one who has the benefits and income. Focus on the road ahead of you, make partner and figure out the rest of the shit later. Tell dh he has to suck it up now for the good of the family. Yes you want to be there for the dc but making partner (assuming equity) will make their entire financial future better. Btdt in the year I went up for tenure. Just told dh that he had to step it up for the next year because if I didn't make it we would be in serious trouble. [ Reply | More ]

It's a bit hard, but I have cultivated friendships with others after kids. Mom friends that I have that stuck - our kids don't click. That would be way, way too easy! So we do mom's nights out at this point. We used to meet for play dates, but they finally fizzled out now that all the kids are in grade school. Another new friend as been someone I met through a close friend. We brunch now. It could be closer if I FB'd and texted more and had more weekends to spare. [ Reply | More ]

Also, really nurture the friendships without kids if you have them. She has more time to spare and may like to day trip through your life a bit. [ Reply | More ]

np- Would you text back and forth with these new friends about more than just logistics? Chatting throughout the day? I have a handful of friends like you but we never socialize via FB or text or email, just in person. [ Reply | More ]

Yeah - stuffed based on conversations shared previously, pop cult stuff, etc. With two young kids and a working husband, I don't get out much. Ha! But I've seen two old friends, the new friend, and several mom friends for chats/brief walks, etc this month. [ Reply | More ]

Without a doubt. Actually, I credit two of the mommy friends I had when my two were babies for saving my sanity. We were going through everything wild and wooly together. Very important. But you have to be a good friend, too. Ask about their life, remember birthdays, etc. [ Reply | More ]

I posted here earlier about my little dog. She just had a massive seizure as we were going to bed. Dh has rushed her to emergency vet. Our other dog died six weeks ago. Just sitting here terrified. [ Reply | More ]

it's got nothing to do with that.. that's the real Harlem Shake. The current one is a silly internet meme made by people who couldn't find harlem if it bit them in the shaking ass [ Reply | More ]

some people are going crazy because the one everyone is watching on youtube isn't the same as the dance they actually used to do in harlem. so they feel like the one popular now is somehow making fun of harlemites and is an insult to black culture. [ Reply | More ]
