CPT Russell R. Osterfeld is a native of Queens, New York and Richmond, Virginia. He was commissioned as an Adjutant General Officer upon graduation from the University of South Florida in 2007, with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology.
Upon commissioning he attended the Adjutant General Officer Basic course at Fort Jackson, SC and was later assigned to 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, in Fort Lewis, WA. During that time he served as the Brigade S1, Brigade Assistant S1, Brigade Strength Manager and as the Battalion S1 for 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team. In August 2009 CPT Osterfeld deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 09-10, while assigned to 1-23 IN and assumed the duties of the Battalion S1 throughout the deployment.. Upon redeployment he PCS’d to Fort Jackson, South Carolina to attend the Adjutant General Captain’s Career Course in October of 2010.
CPT Osterfeld’s military schooling includes the Basic Officer Leaders Course, Fort Sill, OK, Adjutant General Advance Course, Fort Jackson, SC, Adjutant General Officer Basic Course, Fort Jackson, SC, South Carolina, and Human Resources Plans and Operations Course, Fort Jackson South Carolina.
CPT Osterfeld’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon.
