Col. (Dr.) Linda L. Lawrence is the Commander, 31st Medical Group, Aviano Air Base, Italy. She is responsible for five squadrons providing a full spectrum healthcare operations supporting a beneficiary population of approximately 9,200. These operations include inpatient and outpatient care, medical readiness activities, medical training, base aeromedical, occupational and public health support, and health promotions activities.

Colonel Lawrence entered the Air Force through the Health Professions Scholarship Program in 1984, where she received her medical degree from Temple University, and completed a pediatric internship and emergency medicine residency. She has served in a variety of clinical, academic and command roles to include chief of medical staff, squadron commander and deputy group commander. She holds the academic rank of associate professor at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and served as commandant for the School of Medicine from 2002-2005. She has deployed in support of Operation Northern Watch as chief mobile forward surgical team and recently in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation New Dawn as the 332nd Expeditionary Medical Group deputy commander and commander of 332nd Expeditionary Medical Operations Squadron, Joint Base Balad, Iraq. In addition, she served from 2005-2010 as the Air Force Surgeon General chief consultant for emergency medicine, providing executive operational and clinical guidance on emergency medical care in-garrison and deployed. She also developed and led an Air Force Medical Service level Air Force Smart Operations 21 initiative in emergency care and hospital flow.

Colonel Lawrence is a certified physician executive and was awarded the AFMS Grand Masters in Academic Excellence Special Experience Identifier Award in November 2006. She is a past president of the American College of Emergency Physicians and prior chair of the Board of Directors representing more than 27,000 emergency physicians and a $21 million budget.
