The fifth session of the Bilateral Consultative Commission under the New START Treaty took place in Geneva from February 6-19.

This is not a time for the United States of America to retrench and to retreat. This is a time to be more engaged.

Ambassador Betty E. King delivered remarks at an event to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Convention for International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). The U.S. Mission sponsored an exhibit and film presentation to mark the occasion.

Citing a record turnout in Jordan’s January 23 elections, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said the vote represents “a huge first step” in Jordan’s political reform process.

Economic ties between the United States and the European Union account for half of the world’s economic output and nearly $1 trillion, or one-third, of the global trade in goods and services.

The United States is very disappointed that Russia has taken action to suspend all imports of U.S. meat, which is produced to the highest safety standards in the world.

“Together, we have cleared away the rubble of crisis,” he said, “and we can say with renewed confidence that the State of our Union is stronger.”

North Korea’s nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs constitute a threat to U.S. national security and to international peace and security.

The United States is looking forward to the Internet 2013 conference being hosted by OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatovic from February 13-15.
