The Academy Team

National Integration Academy Council (NIAC)

Establishing the National Integration Academy Council (NIAC) is a critical first step in building this Academy to support health care integration. As highlighted in the recent Milbank Foundation report, there are and will continue to be a range of approaches to integrating the behavioral health and primary care fields. While leaders across sectors and settings share the goal of improving the quality and cost effectiveness of care, there has been too little collaboration and communication among them to date. The NIAC will help improve communication and sharing of knowledge, experience, and ideas as the field moves forward. By reflecting the diversity in the field and providing a forum for outstanding leaders to share perspectives and tools, the NIAC will also help to expand the common ground and enrich the discussion about what methods work in which contexts.

The NIAC advises the operational team on specific strategic initiatives for the Academy to consider.  The NIAC Chair is Frank Verloin deGruy III, MD, MSFM.  The membership represents diverse areas of content expertise, experience, and approach.  NIAC members are established or emerging leaders with significant experience in some area of health care.  Many have first-hand expertise with integration.
