Training Management and Event Scheduling System (TMESS) consolidates the management, scheduling, maintenance and operation of aviation training systems and associated resources under the Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) operational forces. MATSS New River was designated as the prototype for MATSS at each MCAS throughout the Marine Corps.
As MATSS matures, Marine Air Command and Control System, Aviation Ground Support, and Marine Aviation Maintenance training concepts and systems will be incrementally integrated into each MATSS.
The most important aspect of the MATSS concept is its alignment under the operational chain of command. Through its uniformed personnel, MATSS is the operator's link to the Aviation Training Branch, Training and Education Command (TECOM), HQMC (DC Aviation) and Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIRSYSCOM) for aviation training systems. Through this chain, mission requirements can drive acquisition processes, and current fleet representatives can more efficiently and directly participate in defining current requirements and identifying new ones.
