SCDE staff members from the offices of Teacher Effectiveness (Title II team only); Certification, Recruitment and Preparation; Leader Effectiveness; and Educator Evaluations have been temporarily displaced due to a fire in the Landmark Building located at 3700 Forest Drive in Columbia. The building is inaccessible at this time; the extent of the damage is being assessed.

COLUMBIA – Six South Carolina Title I schools are being recognized for superior student achievement, the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) announced today. The SCDE provides a $5,000 grant to each of the three highest performing Title I schools for overall student achievement and a $5,000 grant to each of the three Title I schools that demonstrate the most progress from one year to the next.

COLUMBIA – Five South Carolina schools won 2012 National Blue Ribbon Schools Awards, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan announced today. The U.S. Department of Education (USED) says that schools chosen as National Blue Ribbon recipients are models of excellence that other schools can emulate. Winners are either academically superior or demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement.
