A Role for Business at the Frontier of Development
Jun 7 2012
In honor of USAID’s first-ever Frontiers in Development conference, Sir Andrew Witty, CEO, GlaxoSmithKline, discusses GSK’s work with USAID in Africa in an IMPACTblog.
In the blog post, he highlights GSK’s work to:
- increase access to existing medicines and vaccines,
- accelerate R&D into new treatments for diseases prevalent in developing countries, and
- form new partnerships to ensure that the latest treatments are available to the patients who need them.
GSK has a solid history of partnering with USAID through Global Development Alliances (GDA). From training medical professionals in Russia in the latest in HIV/AIDS treatments, to improving personal hygiene in Tajikistan, to working to develop a vaccine for malaria, GSK and USAID have worked together to address critical health needs in developing countries worldwide.
