As you can see, the Charleston District website has recently undergone a major facelift. What used to be a cluttered and disorganized space has become a clean, user-friendly atmosphere for the public and our stakeholders.

As a result of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure law, the Defense Media Activity was formed to take charge of the web operations for all of the Department of Defense. As this includes the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), every Corps district and division is moving to this new web platform in an effort to communicate strategically and transparently with the public.

By migrating all of the USACE websites to the same platform, there will be a consistent look and feel to all Corps websites. Each district’s website will have a standard template for the design and layout. This means that no matter which USACE district or division website you are visiting, you will have virtually the same navigation to each part of one website as you do to the other. While each district has some leeway in how they organize subpages within the website, the same main portions of the homepages and drop-down menus will be the same. The intent is to streamline the content management process and produce a richer end-user experience.

The Charleston District web migration team was composed of members from each department within the District and managed by the Corporate Communications office in order to cover all of our areas of work. Department representatives scrubbed their old websites of outdated information and constructed their new websites to feature the most relevant and requested information for the public. This includes a homepage that has quick links to the most requested information on the entire site. This will allow you to quickly find the most pertinent information to you.

While the Charleston District web migration team has worked tirelessly to provide you with the best possible experience, we would like your feedback as well.
