    LUNA Joins LANL Supercomputers

The Appro Xtreme-X™ Supercomputer was selected as part of the second Tri-Lab Linux Capacity Cluster (TLCC2) program to add 6 petaFlop/s to the computer power of the Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).

The Los Alamos computer is named Luna (moon) in keeping with its predecessor Cielo (sky), honoring New Mexico's Spanish heritage. These supercomputers are in use by the three national laboratories in NNSA’s Advanced Simulation and Computing (ASC) program: Lawrence Livermore (LLNL), Los Alamos (LANL) and Sandia (SNL).
