CHICAGO - Governor Pat Quinn today announced that the Illinois Housing Development Authority is increasing the mortgage assistance available through the Illinois Hardest Hit program to $35,000 per household across the state, effective April 1. The governor also announced that Illinois Hardest Hit has reached a milestone, having recently helped its 7,000th homeowner avoid foreclosure. Today's announcement will help an additional 500 working families keep their homes and is part of the governor's commitment to strengthen Illinois' communities.
CHICAGO – November 18, 2012. Governor Pat Quinn today launched an Internet grassroots campaign to increase public awareness about the need for pension reform in Illinois. Relaying a message from the next generation to today’s leaders, the "Thanks in Advance" public awareness campaign is designed to educate citizens about the "squeeze" caused by skyrocketing pension costs, and activate them to advocate for pension reform using tech tools like Facebook, Twitter and email.

CHICAGO – Following approval today by a key planning group, Governor Pat Quinn has directed the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to accelerate a $420 million project that will reconstruct Chicago’s famed Circle Interchange, improving traffic flow in the most congested interchange in the nation. Today’s decision by the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) to include the project in the “GO TO 2040” long-term transportation plan allows IDOT to pursue federal funding for the landmark project that will create thousands of jobs. Today’s announcement is part of the Governor’s agenda to create jobs and drive more economic growth.

CHICAGO – March 1, 2013. Governor Pat Quinn today took another major step towards revitalizing Chicago’s Calumet region by announcing $6.8 in state and local investments to continue developing the Millennium Reserve, a 140,000-acre project to create the largest open space area in the country. The governor also signed an Executive Order creating a steering committee made up of federal, state and local partners that will oversee the vision for the reserve. Making the Millennium Reserve a reality is part of the governor’s ongoing commitment to protecting Illinois’ natural resources, creating jobs and strengthening communities.
The Governor’s Office is joining with members of the General Assembly, state agency representatives, parents, school administrators, teachers, labor unions and advocacy groups to examine governance, funding and other issues associated with the education options for blind and/or deaf students.
