Internships and Job Opportunities

At this time, we have closed the application process for paid positions in our Washington, DC office however, we are accepting applications for individuals who have obtained fellowships and are looking for placement.

We are accepting resumes for our District office in Rancho Cordova, California, but will not be scheduling interviews for a few months.  If you would like for us to keep your resume on file, please email it along with a cover letter to bera.resume@mail.house.gov.

Internships

Our spring internship program is full; however, we are accepting applications for the summer term and will be reviewing those applications in April. Internships are open to both high school and college students. Although internships in both offices are unpaid, students gain invaluable work experience. Internships require a minimum of 10 hours per week.

Washington, DC.

In Washington, interns' responsibilities will vary. They will be asked to answer phones, research legislation for the Member and legislative staff,  attend hearings and briefings and answer constituent letters on various issues before the House, and execute day-to-day office tasks. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office.

California

In my California office, interns may be asked to do a variety of things, including day-to-day office work such as answering phones, writing letters and attending events in the district. In addition, interns may be assigned to assist with constituent casework or work on District-based projects of importance.

To Apply

To apply for an internship, please email bera.resume@mail.house.gov with the word "internship" in the subject of your email.  If you would like more information on Congressional Internships—please contact my office.
