McCaskill Talks Missouri Higher Education with MSU President Clif Smart
WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill today met with Missouri State University (MSU) President Clif Smart and university leadership to discuss university affairs, including the continued infrastructure improvements on both the Springfield and West Plains campuses and increased enrollment throughout the Missouri State system. McCaskill and Smart also discussed Missouri State's importance to the southwest Missouri region and current programs aimed at positively affecting local residents.
"MSU is one of our flagship schools and plays a tremendously important role in Missouri's higher education system," McCaskill said. "Clif is a wonderful leader-I know that a bright future for Missouri State will help create a bright future for Missouri."
Since joining the Senate in 2007, McCaskill has been a strong supporter of higher education opportunities. She has previously fought for an expansion of federal student loans, and just last year led the charge to prevent a drastic increase in student loan interest rates.
