Service Academy Nominations
Each year it is my extraordinary privilege to nominate exceptional young men and women to our nation's service academies. The opportunity for a fully-funded education and the high honor of attending a service academy make these nominations extremely competitive. I hope that all highly motivated students living in Georgia's Second Congressional District share my enthusiasm and will consider these fine opportunities for education and service to the United States.
If you are interested in attending a service academy, it is to your benefit to begin the application process in your junior year of high school. The process begins with your writing a letter to inform me that you would like to be nominated to a service academy. Please specify which academy and if you are interested in more than one. There is no need to send a separate letter for each academy.
Students may apply for nomination to one or more of the following academies. Below you will find the address, telephone number, and web page of each of the service academies. It might be helpful to request a catalog from the academy or academies you are interested in.

The service academies seek candidates with extraordinary academic, physical, and leadership skills. Regrettably, even a Congressional nomination does not guarantee admission.
Eligible candidates for a Congressional nomination must be United States citizens, reside in the Georgia’s Second Congressional District, and be at least 17 years of age, but not yet past your 23rd birthday, on July 1st of the year admitted. To apply, candidates should contact Rusty Wetherington in our Thomasville district office at (229) 226-7789 to request an application packet. In order for applications to be reviewed and processed in a timely manner, applications must be submitted to my district office by November 1st of the student's senior year.
